We Support our Community

USagain

We host a clothing bin to help our environment. Families of Picasso and the community are invited to drop off unwanted clothing in the bin in front of the school. This reduces carbon footprint. Clothing dropped off in the bins are diverted from landfills to be reworn, reused, and recycled. Every pound collected saves 7 pounds of CO2. The clothing collected is purchased in thrift stores and/or donated to other countries who cannot afford new clothes. For every pound of clothing collected, one cent is donated to The Children's Miracle Network.

St. Judes
A week long curriculum in May educating the sudents about children with disibilities. At the end of the week, our students participate in a "Trike-A-Thon" to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. All proceeds go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help find a cure for children diagnosed with cancer and other life threatening diseases.

We Walk for Dominic
Dominic is a young boy in San Mateo who has an extremely rare disease that effects his bladder and digestive system. He is continuously in and out of the hospital with complications and surgeries. He has never been able to live a normal childhood. During the Week of the Young Child, the Picasso staff, students, and their familiy members walk for thirty minutes to raise money to help pay for Dominic's medical exspenses. Three years ago, we helped pay for Dominic to travel to Ohio to see a Dr. who specializes in pseudo-obstruction. We are very committed in helping Dominic and his family recieve the medical attention he needs.
